Man bringing sample ballots stapled with cash nabbed in Cebu town

CEBU CITY—The police arrested a man caught bringing sample ballots stapled with cash in Pinamungajan town, about 55 km west of Cebu City.

The police identified the suspect as Valentino Ygay Daquil, 53, of Sitio Bulobogan, Barangay Tajao, Pinamungajan.

Ygay was riding his motorcycle when he was stopped at 6:10 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, at a police checkpoint in Bulobogan.

A police report from Pinamungajan said Daquil was carrying a transparent plastic bag containing 16 brown envelopes filled with stapled P500 bills and a sample ballot.
