MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday denied that it owns a vehicle that bears a sticker that indicates the campaign colors and hand signs of a presidential and vice-presidential candidate.
A photo of a van with the Comelec’s logo and the partisan sticker has been circulating on the world wide web, prompting netizens to raise questions and their eyebrows.
According to Comelec Education and Information Department chief James Jimenez, the vehicle nor the owner is not from the poll body.
“On verification, this is not a COMELEC vehicle and the registered owner is not a COMELEC employee. The matter has been referred to the relevant authorities for appropriate action,” Jimenez said on the social media site Twitter.

Comelec Commissioner George Garcia, meanwhile, said that printing the Comelec logo is easy to do.
“[Pwede] nilagay dyan para po may ma-post sa [social] media,” he said in a message to reporters. “Madali po mag-print nun,” referring to the poster carrying the logo of Comelec.
(It may be placed on the vehicle so there is something he/she could post on social media. It is easy to print that.)
Earlier, Jimenez said that partisan politics is prohibited in official government functions.
