A 26-year-old tricycle driver was charged with robbery and rape before the city prosecutor’s office for allegedly sexually abusing a 20-year-old woman inside a motel in Manila before bringing her to San Juan City to rob her of her valuables.
Brilliant Ignacio, of Domingo Santiago Street in Sta. Mesa, even had the gall to tell policemen arresting him not to intrude in his spat with his “wife,” when they saw him grabbing the shoulder bag of the victim.
Ignacio is now detained at the Manila Police District (MPD) integrated jail.
Police reports that at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday night, the 20-year-old woman, of San Juan City, rode a tricycle along Lardizabal Street in Sampaloc and asked to be brought to the terminal of San Juan-bound jeepneys.
To her surprise Ignacio, who was seated behind the driver, transferred beside her, poked a fan knife and declared a holdup.
The woman offered to hand over her belongings but the suspect instead took her to a motel along Ramon Magsasay Avenue in Sta. Mesa where the victim was raped.
After raping her, the suspect flagged down a taxi, but did not pay the fare and rode another cab without paying again, prompting the cabbie to seek the help of patrolling policemen who arrested the suspect. Jeannette I. Andrade
