MANILA, Philippines — Presidential candidate and former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio have gained the backing of the coalition of cooperatives in the country.

The National Coalition of Cooperatives in the Philippines on Thursday held an event in a hotel in Quezon City to announce their manifesto of support for the candidacy of Marcos-Duterte tandem.

Freddie Hernandez, the chairman of the cooperative coalition, believes that, if elected, Marcos-Duterte would be a boon to the 11-million strong cooperative sector.

“We believe that the cooperative sector will flourish and will realize its true mandate for inclusive growth, socioeconomic development under your leadership,” the manifesto of support as read by Hernandez said.

The cooperative sector is also banking on the continuity of President Rodrigo Duterte’s policies, according to Hernandez.

“We, the cooperative leaders of this nation, have no doubt, that that both of you, Mr. President and Madam Vice President, have the passion and the heart to continue the legacy of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” he added.

Senatorial candidate and former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque received the manifesto of support for Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte who were not able to attend the event.
