SAN MARIANO, Isabela––Police and Army soldiers retrieved several guns and ammunition after unearthing an arms cache at Barangay Dibuluan, in this town, authorities said Wednesday, May 4.

Col. Julio Go, acting Isabela police director, said they discovered two rifle grenades, an M1 Garand rifle without a buttstock, an upper receiver of an M-16 Armalite rifle, an upper receiver of an M2 Carbine, body parts of a 13-gauge shotgun, and a communist guerrilla flag.

A former member of the New People’s Army-Central Front Committee, who earlier surrendered to the 1st Isabela Provincial Mobile Force, on Tuesday helped authorities locate the firearms.

Lt. Col. Jeffrey Raposas of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Command said teams from the San Mariano police, Criminal Investigation, and Detection Group-Isabela, and Army soldiers from the 86th Infantry Battalion and 95th Infantry Battalion led the operation.
