TAGBILARAN CITY—Former educator and provincial board member Elpidio Manliguez “Pediong” Jala of the third district of Bohol died on Monday (May 2). He was 77.
His son, Greg, said his father died of complications following an acute spinal hemorrhage.
Details of the special celebration commemorating Jala’s life and funeral will be announced.
Jala had served at the then Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) and Department of Education (DepEd) for 44 years before entering politics.
He was a former schools superintendent of the Division of Bohol from 2002 to 2012 .
As an educator, Jala became president of Bohol Public School Teachers Association, Philippine Elem. School Principals Association-Bohol chapter and School District and Division Superintendents.
