PNR adds more train trips to Bicol

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Railways (PNR) has announced it will make available additional trips to Bicol starting next month in line with state efforts to improve connectivity between Metro Manila and key provinces.

Aside from the additional trips every week, the PNR’s management also announced the extension of the train line’s route from Naga, the current destination, to Polangui, Ligao, and Travesia in Albay.

The two new services, called the Mayon Limited De Luxe and the Mayon Limited Ordinary, will kick off next week. The MLD will run every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the MLO will run every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

These additional services will depart from the PNR’s Tutuban station at 8:30 p.m., after the daily Bicol Express which departs at 6:30 p.m. The new train services arrive 5:45 a.m. in Naga City, 6:50 a.m. in Polangui and 7:00 a.m. in Ligao, Albay, the next day.

The one-way fare for the Mayon Limited De Luxe is P716.00 for Naga and P768.00 for Ligao, while that for the Mayon Limited Ordinary is P416.00 and P491.00 for Naga and Ligao respectively.

The additional trains will have different configurations: the MLD will have three air-conditioned coaches, all of which are fitted with executive reclining seats, while the MLO will have three cars fitted with electric fan-ventilated coaches and fixed (nonreclining) seats.
