INQUIRER Mobile PiliPinas BOT. STORY: Inquirer Mobile ‘PILIpinas’ pushes voter education

MANILA, Philippines — To promote voter education for the May 9 elections, Inquirer Mobile has launched the election bot “Inquirer PILIpinas’’ in partnership with the nonprofit media organization Vera Files.

The bot has features designed to help Filipinos understand and compare the presidential and vice presidential candidates regarding their track record and stand on important national issues.

Through the ‘Rate the Candidates’ tab, one can review their profile, biography and achievements, as well as rate their platforms.

To view the pulse of bot users, the user can tap the ‘Approval Ratings’ tab to see the overall results.

To send a tip for fact-checking, tap the ‘Send a tip’ box to send a message to the bot. Users who send a message will have it go through the fact-checking process of Vera Files.

Other sections of the bot include ‘Election News’ and ‘Latest News,’ where users can receive updates from Inquirer Mobile.

They can also be redirected to Inquirer Community, currently the biggest news channel on Viber Philippines.

The Inquirer PILIpinas bot was created with the help of Inquirer Mobile’s 2021 interns from Bulacan State University, namely Allison Estrella, Bianca Meneses, Mary Joy Salcedo, Mary Angela Puntilar, Chabelita Santiago and Noelyn Joy Matitu, together with the Inquirer Mobile team.
