KIDAPAWAN CITY — Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco has urged the police to conduct a deeper investigation into the shooting of her campaigner on Friday evening in Carmen town.

Johnny Sanchez, 28, of Barangay Aroman, was at the village basketball court when shot by armed men at around 7 p.m.

Bystanders rushed the victim to the Carmen municipal hospital and later transferred to the Kidapawan Medical Specialist Center in Kidapawan City.

Initial police report disclosed that Sanchez was hit several times in his stomach.

“I strongly condemn this cowardly act against my people. I am urging the police to investigate and bring the suspects behind bars,” Catamco said.

Sanchez headed the core group of leaders in Carmen town of Catamco’s campaign for a second term as governor.
