House mourns passing of Camarines Norte Rep. Marisol Panotes

MANILA, Philippines — Members of the House of Representatives mourn the passing of Camarines Norte 2nd district Rep. Marisol Panotes.

House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco on Saturday said Panotes “was a doting wife, a loving mother, a caring grandmother, and a devoted public servant.”

“As a legislator, she principally authored and co-authored important pieces of legislation which have great impact on the lives of Filipinos such as the COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021, Salary Standardization Law of 2019, and Good Manners and Right Conduct and Values Education Act of 2020,” Velasco said in a statement.

“Her dedication and love of service for her constituents will always be remembered,” he added.

House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez on Saturday added that he was “saddened by the untimely death” of Panotes.

“We will surely miss her,” Romualdez said in a statement.

Panotes, who was a part of the House majority bloc and a member of the ruling PDP-Laban party, also served as the vice chair of the House panels on disaster resilience and on population and family relations.

At the time of her passing at the age of 76, Panotes was running for her third term as Camarines Norte 2nd District representative in the 2022 elections. She first won in the 2016 elections.
