TAGAYTAY CITY, Philippines — Parts of Palawan and Mindanao would likely see cloudy skies and isolated rains this weekend due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said on Friday evening.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed cloud clusters lying along the ITCZ belt, which crosses central Mindanao towards the southern part of Palawan.

Isolated rains and thunderstorms may be expected until Saturday in Palawan, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Region due to the clouds along the ITCZ, according to the state weather bureau.

But for the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, Pagasa said the weather would remain warm as easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean still prevail.

As a result, high temperatures may be felt in Metro Manila and Tuguegarao on Saturday at 26 to 35 degrees Celsius; 24 to 34 degrees Celsius in Laoag; 27 to 32 degrees Celsius in Puerto Princesa; and 26 to 32 degrees Celsius in Legazpi. Tagaytay and Baguio would be colder than the rest, at 24 to 32 degrees Celsius and 17 to 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Slightly lower temperatures are expected over Visayas and Mindanao due to the ITCZ: Iloilo, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro may feel temperatures between 25 and 31 degrees Celsius; and Tacloban, 25 and 30 degrees Celsius.  Warm weather, however, would persist in Davao at 25 to 33 degrees Celsius, and Zamboanga at 25 to 34 degrees Celsius.

Pagasa did not raise any gale warning as sea conditions over the country’s waters would be slight to moderate except for Eastern Visayas seas, which would be moderate, this weekend.
