701 cops in Calabarzon vote on 1st day of local absentee voting

LUCENA CITY––At least 701 policemen in the Calabarzon have cast their votes on the first day of the local absentee voting on Wednesday, April 27.

The public information office of Police Regional Office 4A in a statement issued Thursday reported that 223 police officers in Batangas; 138 in Cavite; 101 in Laguna; 143 in Quezon; and 96 cops from Regional Mobile Force Battalion have joined the early political exercise.

The PRO 4A said 1,336 police officers out of 1,484 who signified to avail of the local absentee voting were approved by the Commission on Elections and to be conducted from April 27 to 29.

But local absentee voters can only vote for national positions, namely president, vice president, 12 senators, and a party-list group.

Local absentee voting is a system where government officials and employees, including uniformed personnel, and media members are allowed to cast their votes “in places where they are not registered voters but where they are temporarily assigned to perform election duties on election day, or in case of media voters, they will not be able to vote due to the performance of their functions in covering and reporting on the elections.
