MANILA, Philippines — Agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested an overstaying German accused of domestic violence and emotional abuse in General Santos City, South Cotabato.
In a report to the BI, Intelligence chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. identified the suspect as Jurgen Helmut Schumacher, 69, who was arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Barangay. San Isidro, General Santos City on April 21, Thursday.
Manahan said Schumacher was arrested after BI Commissioner Jaime Morente issued a mission order for his arrest after a complaint for undesirability was filed against him in the BI.
“Our Mindanao Intelligence Task Group (MITG) headed by Melody Penelope Gonzales immediately conducted surveillance and investigation upon receiving the order,” said Manahan.
“The subject will undergo deportation proceedings on charges of violating our immigration laws and for being an undesirable alien,” Manahan said.
According to Manahan, Schumacher’s deportation was sought by his estranged Filipino wife who also accused him of committing domestic violence and concubinage.
The BI also discovered that a case for violating the law on violence against women had already been filed by the complainant against Schumacher before the court.
Apart from these, Schumacher also faces a case for overstaying in the Philippines.
