MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents confiscated P1.1 million worth of “shabu” and marijuana and arrested four “high value” drug suspects in separate operations in Luzon.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) identified the four suspects as Jocy Samson, 43; Romeo Samson, 43; Erwin Malanyaon, 43; and Samuel Dela Cruz, 28. The four men were tagged as “high-value targets,” according to PNP chief Dionardo Carlos.
The suspects were arrested during a joint buy-bust operation of PNP regional officers and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Barangay Sabang, Calabanga, Camarines Sur on Tuesday, April 26, at 5:09 a.m.
Authorities confiscated five plastic sachets purportedly containing 60 grams of “shabu” (crystal meth) which has an estimated street value of P500,000.
PNP regional police officers and PDEA agents also conducted joint anti-drug operations in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday that led to the “discovery, uprooting, and burning of more or less 1,500 fully grown marijuana plants and three kilos dried marijuana fruiting tops estimated to be worth P660,000.” The marijuana plants were planted on two cultivating sites in Mt. Moling, Brgy Licungan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, on a total land area of around 210 square meters, authorities said.
No cultivator, however, was apprehended during the said operation.
“Let me laud again our local police and PDEA operatives for the continuous victory and sterling accomplishments to eradicate the drug menace plaguing Luzon with a focus on haunting down high-value drug personalities,” Carlos said.
“Let us continue this great milestone of achievement under our PNP Campaign Plan Double-Barrel Finale Version 2022 also known as Anti-Illegal Drugs Operation through Reinforcement & Education (ADORE),” he added.
