CEBU CITY—Several passenger vessels have canceled their afternoon trips on April 27 after the temporary closure of the Cebu South Channel, where President Duterte was to inaugurate the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).

Among those affected by the closure were OceanJet’s 3:20 p.m. and 5:40 p.m trips from Cebu to Tagbilaran City, Bohol, and 1 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. trips from Tagbilaran to Cebu City.

The order issued April 26 by Commodore Inocencio Rosario Jr. of the Coast Guard District Central Visayas based in Pier 3 said the Cebu South Channel was temporarily closed to seacraft starting 3 p.m. Wednesday, three hours before the inauguration at 6 p.m. of the CCLEX.

The CCLEX is the third bridge that connects Mactan Island to the Cebu mainland. This 8.5-km bridge will be operated as a toll expressway. It has two lanes in each direction and has a 51-meter navigational clearance for shipping traffic.
