MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of the country will experience cloudy skies and rainy weather on Wednesday due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone and easterlies, the state weather bureau reported.

The easterlies and ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the entire Visayas and Mindanao, as well as Palawan, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Romblon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Pinapaalalahanan po natin ang ating mga kababayan diyan na mag-ingat at maging alerto sa mga posibleng pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa,” said Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda in a public weather forecast.

(We are reminding the public there to be careful and alert to the possible floods and landslides.)

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, however, are set to have a fair weather condition with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Castañeda said there are no weather disturbances being monitored at present, but the formation of a low pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility due to ITCZ should not be ruled out.

“Wala po tayong minomonitor na sama ng panahon na nakakaapekto sa ating bansa, ngunit active po ang ITCZ natin or yung Intertropical Convergence Zone, ay hindi po natin inaalis ang posibilidad na mayroong mabuo na sama ng panahon o low pressure area sa loob ng ating area of responsibility, na maaaring magdulot ng pag-ulan sa bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao maging sa area ng Palawan sa mga susunod na araw,” Castañeda said.

(We are not monitoring any weather disturbance that is affecting our country, but our ITCZ or the Intertropical Convergence Zone is active so we are not ruling out the possibility of a low pressure area formation inside our area of responsibility, which could bring rains to the parts of Visayas, Mindanao and the area of Palawan in the coming days.)

Despite the ITCZ, Pagasa did not raise gale warning in any seaboards nationwide.
