One of the fraternity members charged with the death of San Beda law student Marvin Reglos surfaced Friday at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to clear his name and to deny that he is a member of the Lambda Rho Beta fraternity.
The alleged hazing victim was a neophyte of the fraternity.
Accompanied by his frat brothers from Gamma Delta Epsilon of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Faculty of Law, Christian Adobo maintained his innocence following the filing of a murder charge against him and 17 others in the Antipolo City regional trial court.
Although he refused to speak with the media, his fraternity brothers said that while it was true that Adobo had paid for a reservation at the Guillan’s Place resort in Antipolo City, site of the alleged hazing, it was not for the Lambda Rho Beta fraternity.
Lawyer Galileo Angeles told reporters that Adobo had exclusively reserved the resort from 10 p.m. of February 18 to 7 a.m. of February 19 for a meeting to plan the Gamma Delta Epsilon’s 64th anniversary celebration.
He also claimed that Adobo was neither a San Beda student nor was he a member of the Lambda Rho Beta fraternity.
“There was no untoward incident that happened or that we noticed. No hazing happened at Guillan (resort). We were there. We had our meeting,” Angeles maintained, adding that only Gamma Delta Epsilon members were at the resort.
NBI-DID head and lawyer Romulo Asis told the Inquirer that they had yet to confirm the claim of the Gamma Delta Epsilon members.
“We have to verify their statement. We also have to verify Adobo’s claim that he is a member of that fraternity and not of Lambda Rho,” Asis said.
