MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court’s latest ruling on the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 is a “triumph for peace-loving and law-abiding Filipinos,” the Palace said Tuesday.
The High Court denied with finality the bid to reverse its 2021 decision, junking the over 30 petitions against Republic Act No. 11479 or Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 due to lack of substantial issues and arguments by petitioners.

“We welcome the latest decision of the Supreme Court on Republic Act No. 11479, otherwise known as the ‘Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020,’” acting presidential spokesperson Martin Andanar said in a statement.
“We consider this latest High Court ruling a triumph for all peace-loving and law-abiding Filipinos as it serves as a stern warning against malevolent elements that the Philippines is not a safe haven for terrorists,” he added.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law the Anti-Terrorism Act on July 3, 2020, which took effect on July 18.

Thirty-seven petitions were lodged against the law, making it the most contentious law to date.
