MANILA, Philippines — Counterfeit goods amounting to P190 million were seized in Valenzuela City, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported Tuesday.

The bureau said the items were seized during an inspection on April 22 in Mapulang Lupa in Valenzuela City following the release of a Letter of Authority issued by Customs commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero.

Items recovered at the warehouse included imported kitchenware, housewares, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) infringing goods, and foodstuff, among others, which were estimated to be worth Php190 million.

The bureau said a warrant of seizure and detention will be issued against the subject goods for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to Republic Act No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of 1999.
