CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Three workers were injured when the fifth floor of a mall they were constructing collapsed on March 8, said city administrator Ferdinand Caylao.
The accident occurred hours after workers poured concrete on the form lumber of the future SM Savemore’s fifth level flooring.
“It happened between 12:15 and 12:20 noon when the workers were outside eating. It was in their direction that the concrete floor fell,” said Caylao.
Building contractor RC Ramos Construction, in a statement, said it was the frame of a 10-meter beam which collapsed while concrete was being poured at the site.
The contractor said its workers’ injuries were minor, and damage to the site was minimal. Tonette Orejas, Inquirer Central Luzon
