ANGONO, Rizal — Presidential candidate Manila mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Thursday said during a sortie here that he respects the Commission on Elections (Comelec) latest decision to junk the last disqualification case against Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“I don’t know, they know better than me, they are lawyers there,” Moreno said during an ambush interview in Angono Municipal Hall.
“I respect their decision, that’s their turf.”
Moreno made the comment after the Comelec First Division dismissed the case to stem Marcos Jr.’s for lack of merit.
The petitioners argued that Marcos Jr.’s failure to file his income tax returns is a crime involving moral turpitude, making the former senator unqualified to run for office. The poll body, however, said that failure to file an income tax return is not a crime involving moral turpitude.

When pressed for his reaction on Comelec’s assertion that failure to file income tax return is not a crime involving moral turpitude, Moreno said: “I’m no lawyer, I leave it to the court.”
“Let the courts decide on it,” Moreno added.
All seven cases seeking to stop Marcos Jr. presidential bid have been dismissed at the Comelec division level. There were five cases under appeal before the Comelec en banc.
