Cabinet post if elected? Sara Duterte to leave it up to next president

SAN PEDRO, Laguna — Vice presidential candidate Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio said Thursday she will leave up to the next president—possibly her running mate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.—on which Cabinet post she will assume if elected in the upcoming elections.
Asked if she has a Cabinet post in mind if she is elected as the next vice president, Duterte-Carpio said: “Yes of course.”
“But iiwan ko po ‘yang [decision to the president] because cabinet position is a position of trust and confidence of the president as the appointing authority,” Duterte-Carpio said following a local event here.
(I will leave the decision to the president because Cabinet position is a position of trust and confidence of the president as the appointing authority.)
“Iiwan ko po yan kay Apo BBM (Bongbong Marcos) in the event na ma-elect, siya mag-decide kung bibigyan niya ko ng cabinet position,” she added.
(I will leave it to Apo BBM. In the event he gets elected, he will decide if he will give me a Cabinet position.)
Duterte-Carpio did not name the Cabinet post she would like to assume if she wins the presidency.
However, Marcos earlier bared that Duterte-Carpio wants to head the Department of National Defense (DND) should they clinch the victory in the May 2022 elections.
Marcos admitted he was surprised when Duterte-Carpio told her she wanted to serve in his Cabinet as Defense Secretary. However, he thinks it is a good idea.

Duterte-Carpio has said that if she wins the vice presidential post, she would push for mandatory military service for all Filipinos reaching the age of 18 — male or female.
In 2002, military training was made optional through the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act of 2001 (Republic Act No. 9163).
Calls to abolish mandatory military training were fueled by the killing of University of Santo Tomas sophomore cadet Mark Welson Chua in 2001 after he exposed corruption in his school’s military training program.
