12 hurt after truck falls into ditch in Catanduanes
LEGAZPI CITY––At least 12 people were injured Wednesday, April 20, after the 6-wheeler boom truck they were riding fell into a deep gully or ditch while negotiating a sharp curve along a road in Caramoran town in Catanduanes province, a police report said Thursday.
Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said the boom truck owned by the Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) was transporting 12 company workers to Caramoran from Virac town.
The report said the truck while negotiating a curved road, had mechanical trouble at 9:40 a.m. and fell into the ditch in Barangay Salvacion.
The injured were identified as: Noriel Calumpa, 20; John Francis Arcilla, 22; Ian Ruiz, 30; Joseph Clavano, 52; Agosto Nazareno, 50; John Lester Delos Reyes, 19; Jordan Barro, 20; Darwin Tacorda, 25; Melchor Del Rosario, 21; Miguel Nazareno, 21; Noli Delos Reyes, 44; and Marvin Bergonio, 29, the truck driver, all residents of the province.
Responding police took the wounded workers to a nearby hospital for treatment.
