MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience hot and humid weather on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said, cautioning the public against health risks from the hot weather.
Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the hot weather is brought by the easterlies which will continue to affect the whole country.
“Patuloy na umiiral ang easterlies o ‘yung mainit na hangin mula sa Pasipiko sa buong bahagi ng bansa,” she said.
(The easterlies or warm wind from the Pacific Ocean will prevail nationwide.)
“Dala pa rin nito yung mainit at maalinsangan na panahon lalo na sa tanghali, at yung mga tsansa ng pulo pulong pag ulan o panandaliang pag-ulan lalo na sa hapon sa gabi,” Castañeda added.
(This will cause hot and humid weather especially at noon, and possible isolated rain showers in the afternoon and evening.)
Pagasa urged the public to stay indoors, if possible, and limit outdoor activities with direct exposure to the sun.
If going outside cannot be avoided, Pagasa said adequate hydration and other measures against the heat should be taken.
“Kung magiging matagal ‘yung exposure natin sa direktang init ng araw ay from time to time ay magpahinga at sumilong tayo upang maiwasan yung panganib na maaring idulot ng init ng panahon sa ating kalusugan,” Castañeda said.
(If exposure to the heat is prolonged, periodic rest and taking shelter from the sun isa must to ward off the ill effects of the excessive heat.)
Pagasa added that no weather disturbance is in the vicintiy of the Philippine area of reponsibiity.
