MANILA, Philippines — Free rides for routes of the North Luzon Express Terminal (NLET) to Araneta Center Cubao and from NLET to Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) under the Service Contracting Program Phase 3 will start on Thursday, April 21.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced on Wednesday night that rides for the said route will start at 1 a.m. and will be available until midnight.
The LTFRB assured a sufficient number of vehicles for commuters who would use NLET in going to and from Metro Manila.
Meanwhile, the Edsa Busway Carousel continues to bring free rides from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The LTFRB said more routes are expected to be opened and more public utility vehicles (PUV) will be deployed for free rides in the country in the coming days.
The Service Contracting Program aims to help drivers and PUV operators whose incomes were adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and rising fuel prices. Under the program, operators and drivers will receive benefits based on the number of trips they made per week.
