The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) certified its compliance with the requirements for university status.

The main campus of CHMSU is in Talisay City, with satellite campuses in this city and Binalbagan town.

The conversion means more budget, better opportunities, more academic programs/courses, improved capacity to accommodate more students with free tuition, development and improvement of academic facilities, and increase in academic research for CHMSU, Gasataya said.

It would also mean refinement of CHMSU’s corporate image and an overall improvement in the quality of education on all its campuses.

Gasataya said this goes hand-in-hand with Republic Act No. 10931 or the Free College Education Act that he also co-authored during his first term in line with his advocacy to improve access to and the quality of public education in Bacolod City.
