MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck near Manay town in Davao Oriental on Tuesday morning, the state seismologists reported.
The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, occurred 54 kilometers south of Manay town, according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The tremor occurred at around 9:23 a.m., with a depth of 49 kilometers.
Intensity 2 was reported in Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
Phivolcs said the tremor will cause damage and aftershocks.
