Special Prosecutor Wendell Barreras-Sulit on Friday asked the Supreme Court anew to grant her appeal to stop Malacañang from implementing disciplinary actions against her following the Office of the President’s order to file administrative charges against her and suspend her in connection with the controversial plea with accused plunderer, retired military general Carlos Garcia.
“In the name of preventive suspension for ninety days, SP [Special Prosecutor] Sulit is, all of a sudden, out of work. Irrefutably, this is causing and continues to cause great irreparable injury to SP Sulit, upon her rights and interests as a person and upon her office as Special Prosecutor. This is self-evident as not to require elaboration. And there is an urgent need to stop the cause of injury,” Sulit’s lawyers said in an eight-page motion and manifestation filed with the High Court late yesterday afternoon.
Sulit asked the Supreme Court, “in the interest of justice” and upon its “sound discretion” that her petition for a temporary restraining order filed last April along with now dismissed Deputy Ombudsman Emilio Gonzalez III and all other manifestations she had subsequently. Nikko Dizon
