School in upland Cebu City now has drinking water
The Cebu (Host) Lions Club, in cooperation with Japan’s Nagoya Meinan Lions Club and the Nagoya Midori Lions Club, worked on a joint project to provide water through deep well for the students of Bitlang Integrated School in the mountain barangay of Sudlon 1 in Cebu City, which is about 40 kilometers from the city proper.
The two-year long project, which started under the term of former club president Dr. Rachel Yang-Lim, will be completed and turned over by incumbent president Rodion Ventura to the school on March 30.
Bitlang students can now enjoy good quality drinking water.
The school used to save rain water or buy water from neighboring areas for their needs.
At present, there is free-flowing water from the deep well drilling for the 460 students.
Before the three Lions clubs came, there were a few attempts by some drillers to drill water in the area, but these failed due to hard rock formation, lack of equipment and technology.
