MANILA, Philippines — Two mild but shallow earthquakes hit the province of Masbate on Good Friday, bulletins from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) showed.
According to Phivolcs, the first earthquake, a magnitude 2.4, happened at 4:13 p.m. and was located five kilometers southwest of San Fernando town, at a depth of 16 kilometers.
No intensity was recorded in the first earthquake, but the second movement — a magnitude 2.1 at a depth of just four kilometers, occurred 5:24 p.m. some four kilometers southeast of Mobo.
Instrumental Intensity I was felt in the City of Masbate due to the second earthquake
As of now, Phivolcs said that no aftershock and no damage are expected from the two earthquakes
It is still unclear whether the recent movements were aftershocks of the earthquake in Dimasalang, Masbate last April 9, which was registered as a Magnitude 4.5 in the Richter scale. Intensity V was felt in the said town, while Intensity III was recorded in Masbate City
