DOH: 1,906 new COVID-19 cases logged from April 4-10

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines recorded 1,906 new COVID-19 cases from April 4-10, which is 29 percent lower than the data registered the week prior, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

In its weekly bulletin released Monday, the DOH said the latest tally indicates an average of 272 new infections per day during the covered period.

None of the new cases were also considered severe or critical, it added.

“Mula Abril 4 hanggang 10, 2022, 1,906 na bagong kaso ang naitala sa bansa. Ang average na bilang ng bagong kaso kada araw ngayong linggo ay nasa 272, mas mababa ng 29% kung ikukumpara sa mga kaso noong Marso 28 hanggang Abril 3,” the DOH said in a statement.

“Sa mga bagong kaso, wala sa mga ito ang may malubha at kritikal na karamdaman. Samantala, mayroon namang naitalang 428 na pumanaw,” it also said.

Healthcare utilization and severe and critical admissions remain low, according to the DOH, as 4,045 out of 24,689 (16.4 percent) non-intensive care unit (ICU) beds dedicated for COVID-19 patients have been utilized last week. ICU bed utilization was at 18.4 percent while 707 severe and critical cases remain admitted in hospitals, the DOH noted.

In terms of vaccination statistics, more than 66 million people in the country, or 74.05 percent of the government’s target population, have been vaccinated against COVID-19 while 12.4 million people have taken their booster shots.

Despite the high number of vaccinated people, the DOH reminded the public to refrain from being complacent to avoid any new surges — calling on the unvaccinated to get their primary series shots and for those who have been vaccinated, to get their booster dose.

“Higit sa 66 milyong indibidwal o 74.05% ng ating target na populasyon ang bakunado na laban sa COVID-19 habang 12.4 milyong indibidwal naman ang nakatanggap na ng kanilang booster shots. Sa kabilang banda, 6.6 milyong senior citizens o 76.12% ng ating target A2 population ang nakatanggap na ng kanilang primary series,” the health agency said.

“Pinapaalalalahan ang lahat na huwag maging kampante sa banta ng COVID-19. Bagkus, dapat natin ipagpatuloy ang tamang pagsunod sa minimum public health standards sa ilalim ng Alert Level 1,” it added.
