MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines recorded 1,906 new COVID-19 cases from April 4-10, which is 29 percent lower than the data registered the week prior, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

In its weekly bulletin released Monday, the DOH said the latest tally indicates an average of 272 new infections per day during the covered period.

None of the new cases were also considered severe or critical, it added.

Samantala, mayroon namang naitalang 428 na pumanaw,” it also said.

Healthcare utilization and severe and critical admissions remain low, according to the DOH, as 4,045 out of 24,689 (16.4 percent) non-intensive care unit (ICU) beds dedicated for COVID-19 patients have been utilized last week. ICU bed utilization was at 18.4 percent while 707 severe and critical cases remain admitted in hospitals, the DOH noted.

In terms of vaccination statistics, more than 66 million people in the country, or 74.05 percent of the government’s target population, have been vaccinated against COVID-19 while 12.4 million people have taken their booster shots.

Despite the high number of vaccinated people, the DOH reminded the public to refrain from being complacent to avoid any new surges — calling on the unvaccinated to get their primary series shots and for those who have been vaccinated, to get their booster dose.
