‘Agaton’ moves westwards over Eastern Samar; 5 areas under Signal No. 2
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Agaton continued to move westwards slowly on Sunday as Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) Number 2 was hoisted by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) over Biliran, Eastern Samar, Southern Samar, Northeastern Leyte and the Northern Dinagat Islands.
Based on Pagasa’s 5 p.m. storm advisory, as of 4:00 p.m, the eye of the tropical storm is now over the coastal waters of Lawaan, Eastern Samar moving westwards slowly.
Agaton is packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 105 kph, while moving westwards at 35 kph.
Pagasa also warns of moderate to intense rains over Masbate, Sorsogon, Eastern Visayas, Cebu, Bohol and the Dinagat Islands.
Meanwhile, light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over Albay, Catanduanes, Romblon, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte, Northern Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas.
