Bus overturns, 13 persons hurt
AT LEAST 13 persons were injured when the bus they rode on overturned along a national road in barangay Poblacion Ward 2, Minglanilla town, southern Cebu.
Police said a Librando bus with body number 458 was seen racing with another bus when it overturned at dawn yesterday.
Chief Insp. Laurel Almirante, chief of the Minglanilla police, said it was the bus conductor, Fritz Delicano, who confirmed that the bus was running at high speed when the accident occurred.
Delicano was among those injured.
Injured passengers were identified as Melcy Sandalo; Joel Abas; Reynaldo Asister, 48; Hector Delicario, 52; Emmanuel Costanilla, 33; Ewican Atillo, 43; Ria and Nicole Palanas; James Andrian Felisilda; Victor Casiras, 59; and Mary Jazel Cantel, 23.
The driver of the bus, Marcelino Balingit, 50, of barangay Basdiot, Moaboal town, was detained after the accident.
He told police something went wrong with the steering wheel, causing him to lose control of the bus.
