Police raid Makati ‘escort’ den
FORTY-FIVE alleged sex workers were rescued in a raid on a prostitution den in Makati City on Thursday night by joint police and justice department operatives, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Friday. Six persons reportedly involved in the illegal escort service were also arrested in the raid of the den in Barangay San Isidro led by the CIDG Women and Children Protection Division (WCPD). The CIDG director, Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr. identified the suspects as Rolly M. Tadioan, 56; Jovito B. Estrada, 20; Jemel B. Diez, 20; Dionisio S. Camoong, 41, all from Barangay San Isidro, Makati City; Emiliano T. Almira, 58; and Fernando D. Alinsod, both of Sta Rosa, Laguna. The CIDG is now looking for the owner and operator of the prostitution den, identified only as Joseph Ramos. Supt. Emma M. Libunao said in her report to Pagdilao that the alleged sex den mostly catered to foreign nationals. “The floor manager, Tadioan, charges the guests with rates ranging from P3,500 to P10,000 depending on how long the time an escort would serve her guest. It was also Tadioan who receives the payment from the guest,” the report said. Libunao added that for every transaction, the girl would only receive P1,000. Reward money raised to P2M
THE FAMILY of the Makati Shangri-la hotel executive who was gunned down exactly a year ago Friday in Makati City, has raised the reward money from P300,000 to P2 million in exchange for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects. Senior Supt. Froilan Bonifacio, city police chief, said Sandro Mazza, the twin brother of victim Sergio Mazza, the German-Italian food and beverage executive of Makati Shangri-la, has decided to increase the reward money in the hopes of attaining justice. Authorities are looking for three suspects whose descriptions were provided by the driver of the taxi flagged down by the suspects when they fled from the crime scene. Mazza, 38, was about to go to his workplace when he was shot thrice in the head by a gunman around 7:45 a.m. on June 17, 2010, a few minutes after he stepped out of his apartment. Police were alerted when someone from a nearby bakery shop heard a loud thud and saw Mazza fall to the pavement at the corner of Perea and Dela Rosa Streets. Tina G. Santos
Registration for bay cleanup
MANILA Broadcasting Company has added another registration site for those wishing to take part in the Manila Bay Clean-Up Run scheduled on July 17.
