Cebu City Hall appoints 23 add’l consultants

The Cebu City Council approved the contracts of 23 consultants who are hired to help run the city government with their respective expertise.

Twelve of them are under the Office of the Mayor while 11 will be serving the legislative department.

The mayor’s consultants get P15,000 to P18,000 a month while the legislators’ consultants only get P9,000.

Former councilor Edwin Jagmoc, consultant on barangay affairs, and Nicanor Maglasang, consultant on senior citizens concern, are newly hired while the rest have been serving the city since last year. Their contracts were renewed for the period January to June.

A list of the consultants showed that Rama and Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young hired different consultants to handle senior citizens concerns.

Rama hired Maglasang while Young has Guillermo Casinillo.

Young aid in an earlier interview that he needed Casinillo to assist senior citizens who come to his office for help because their concerns are not addressed by Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA)

Jagmoc and Manuel Legaspi (legal and administrative concerns) were being considered to be in the slate of Mayor Michael Rama for councilors while Lewelyn Menchavez-Porta (consultant on legislative matters) and former SK federation chairperson Rengelle Pelayo (committee on youth and sports development) were also floated for inclusion in the slate of Rep. Tomas Osmeña for next year’s election.

Osmeña said that Menchavez who run for Lahug barangay captain in the 2010 election but lost and Pelayo who is actively involved in the Task Force on Street Children would make good candidates because they are young and smart. Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
