Duterte expected to spend Holy Week in Davao City
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to spend this year’s Holy Week in his hometown Davao City, Malacañang said on Wednesday.
“I would like to believe that the President will stay in Davao City as usual. Ang mga nakaraang taon ay doon lamang siya sa kanyang tahanan sa Davao City,” acting presidential spokesman Martin Andanar said in a Palace briefing when asked where the President will spend the Lenten season.
(In the recent years, he stayed in his home in Davao City.)
In his Holy Week message last year, Duterte said the Holy Week, particularly Easter Sunday, gives a message of hope amidst the sufferings that the country faces due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Malacañang has declared April 14 (Maundy Thursday) and April 15 (Good Friday) as regular holidays and April 16 (Black Saturday) as a special non-working day.
