OLONGAPO CITY––More than 1,000 policemen have been deployed to key areas in Central Luzon to ensure peace and order during the Lenten season and summer vacation.

Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, chief of Police Regional Office 3, said in a statement Wednesday, April 6, that he had directed all local police directors to assist motorists and commuters as part of their public safety campaign.

“We have already deployed more than 1,000 personnel regionwide on April 1,” Baccay said.

He said the police would increase foot and mobile patrols. Police Assistance Desks/Centers were also set up.

“Road safety marshals are being deployed to convergence points, particularly in bus terminals, airports, seaports, and recreational areas including highways, main thoroughfares, and crime-prone areas, to ensure maximum police presence,” Baccay said.

He said force multipliers and auxiliary forces, including Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams and radio net groups, would augment the police force in this period.
