Central Luzon police see crime drop in 1st quarter
OLONGAPO CITY––The number of crimes recorded during the first quarter in Central Luzon dropped by 13 percent compared with the same period last year, police said Tuesday, April 5.
The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) said, in a statement, that 8,858 crime incidents were registered from January to March this year based on its Crime Information Reporting and Analysis System.
The figure was 1,328 cases lower than the 10,186 cases logged during the same period in 2021.
Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, PRO3 chief, said the “significant” drop was due to the intensified anti-criminality measures, particularly the anti-drug campaign.
“We continue to intensify the conduct of operations against illegal drug personalities and drug syndicates, concentrating not only on street pushers but also on high-value targets,” Baccay said.
