AJUY, ILOILO — Speaking before a crowd of licensure review scholars and tricycle drivers of this municipality on Sunday, April 3, former congressman Niel Tupas Jr. of Iloilo’s fifth district promised an inclusive cash assistance program for tertiary education students if granted a seat in the House of Representative.
Tupas Jr. seeks to qualify all tertiary students in the fifth district of Iloilo contrary to the exclusive Tulong-Dunong Program implemented through his younger brother, incumbent Congressman Raul Tupas.
The program grants annual P12,000 cash assistance to financially challenged tertiary students of the fifth congressional district of Iloilo belonging to a household under the low-income class.
Beneficiaries are chosen after an application process.
Tupas Jr. said his political experience would revive the lost vigor of excellence the Iloilo province and the fifth congressional district are known for.
