Quezon logs no new COVID-19 cases in 2 days
LUCENA CITY––Quezon province recorded no new COVID-19 cases on April 2 to 3.
There were also no recoveries and fatalities from COVID-19 in the province in the past two days, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) reported on April 3.
On April 1, the IPHO listed only one infection from Tayabas City. Last month, the IPHO recorded five zero cases in its daily tally.
As of Sunday, the number of patients in the province remained at seven from five on March 28. On Jan. 23, the IPHO had 1,805 active cases.
At least 37 of the 41 municipalities reported zero COVID-19 patients on Sunday.
Article continues after this advertisementThe four localities that still have COVID-19 patients were Candelaria town with three; Lucena City, two; and one each in Tayabas City and the municipality of Infanta, according to the IPHO.
Article continues after this advertisementCandelaria has been a COVID-19-free locality since March 24. But on March 27, the town recorded two residents from Barangay Sta. Catalina Norte, who had contracted the disease.
Another villager from Barangay Buenavista West was also infected with COVID-19 on March 30.
On Thursday, the national Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) placed Tayabas City and the towns of Lucban, Mauban, Pagbilao, Plaridel, Polillo, Quezon, and Sampaloc under alert level 1, the most lenient in a five-tier alert status from April 1 to 15.
The IATF also renewed the alert level 1 status of Lucena City, the capital of the province, until April 15.
The rest of the 32 towns in the province will remain under alert level 2 during the same period.
As of Sunday, Quezon has recorded 32,841 COVID-19 cases, 31,274 recoveries, and 1,560 deaths.
