MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Caprio thanked his father President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday for supporting her vice presidential bid.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa endorsement ni Pangulong Duterte sa aking kandidatura as vice president,” Duterte-Carpio, also known as Inday Sara, said in an ambush interview in Pandi, Bulacan.
(I thank President Duterte for his endorsement of my vice presidential bid.)
The President vouched for her daughter’s capabilities last Friday in the rally of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).
“I’m going to retire but my daughter is running for vice president. If you think that… Actually, this is the first time that I’m using my name as a father, for my daughter. It’s because we’ve had issues, but a child is a child. So… Inday is very good, to be totally honest with you. Inday is very hard working,” the chief executive said in a mix of English and Bisaya.
“But Inday is really very strict. You can’t crowd around waiting for her, you will be called one by one instead. But she will talk to you. And that’s good, that’s actually good. She can serve people in an orderly manner,” Duterte added.
However, the President remained neutral in the presidential race despite the endorsement given by his party PDP-Laban to former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., his daughter’s running mate.
