Pagasa: Expect isolated Sunday rain showers; LPA nears PH territory
MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of the country will have scattered rain showers due to the shear line and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) on Sunday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Pagasa is also monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
The LPA, last spotted at 1,780 kilometers east of Mindanao, is expected to enter the country by Monday.
“Sa Lunes or by tomorrow, aasahang papasok po ito ng ating area of responsibility. Mababa ang chance na maging isang bagyo pa,” Estareja said.
(By Monday, expect that the LPA to enter our area of responsibility. It has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.)

“Ngayong araw, asahan po ang maulap na kalangitan at sasamahan pa ng kalat-kalat na ulan at thunderstorms sa Ilocos Norte, ganu’n din ang Apayao, at buong Cagayan Valley,” said Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja.

“Meron din tayong pag-ulan dito sa Masbate at Sorsogon, epekto ng intertropical convergence zone,” said Estareja.

“Sa ating mga kababayan sa Visayas and sa Mindanao, asahan pa rin natin ang makulimlim na panahon ngayong araw, epekto ng ITCZ,” he added.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies — the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean — and localized thunderstorms.

-northern coast of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
