The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Egay was expected to enhance the southwest monsoon which spells more rains in the affected regions.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, Pagasa said Egay was 300 kilometers east of Surigao City. It had maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and was moving northwest at 13 kilometers per hour.
It is forecast to be 170 kilometers east northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar by Saturday morning, and 100 kilometers east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes by Sunday morning.
Pagasa also said Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao would experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
But Southern Palawan, Eastern Visayas and Northeastern Mindanao could also experience widespread rains that could trigger flashfloods and landslides.
The rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
