TARLAC CITY — A monument of the late Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. here was partially obscured for the campaign rally of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and her runnning mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte – Carpio.
Marcos Jr. and Duterte-Carpio held a rally at the Tarlac City Plazuela, where they were hosted by Mayor Cristy Angeles.
At the venue stands a monument to remember Tarlacqueño Aquino Jr., who was a key opposition figure during the time of Marcos Jr.’s father, the late former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.
The Aquino monument faces the very stage where Marcos Jr. appealed to Tarlacqueños to elect him to Malacañang. But the monument of the late senator was partially covered and blocked by a tent.

Aquino Jr. was assassinated at the Manila International Airport on August 21, 1983.
The assassination of Aquino served as one of the triggers to what would later become the 1986 Edsa People Power Revolution that ousted Marcos Sr. from Power.
INQUIRER.net sought the comment of Marcos Jr.’s camp for this story but has yet to receive a reply as of posting time.
INQUIRER.net is also trying to get the side of the Tarlac City government.
