LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte––The four Ilocos provinces are staying under Alert Level 1 from April 1 to 15, Malacañang announced Thursday, March 31.
Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan, including Dagupan City, will be under the most lenient alert level classification, which eases quarantine curbs.
These areas were under COVID-19 Alert Level 3 in January due to a spike in cases triggered by the Omicron variant. They were downgraded to Alert Level 1 on March 1.
In a statement Friday, April 1, Dr. Rheuel Bobis, COVID-19 focal person for the regional Department of Health (DOH), said the average number of daily COVID-19 cases in the region fell to seven in the previous week.
He noted that the trend continued to decline, with 49 new COVID-19 cases added to the tally from March 20 to 26.
Bed use and the critical administration of patients who suffer from COVID-19 also fell to a low-risk level, added Bobis.
Bobis noted that the release of the COVID-19 case bulletin would also be done every week, following the guidelines set in areas under Alert Level 1.
The latest data from the regional DOH showed that at least 3.4 million individuals had been vaccinated fully against COVID-19, or 79 percent of the target population.
The same data showed that 642,865 individuals had received their booster shots. INQ
