MANILA, Philippines—Senator Ferdinand “Bong-Bong” Marcos on Wednesday called President Benigno Aquino III a “big nuisance” in the ongoing impeachment trial in the Senate

Marcos said Aquino’s public statements about the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona were causing confusion to the people following the proceeding.

“Malaking pampagulo ang nangyayari… (What’s going on is causing havoc…),” the senator said of the President’s statements against Corona, which he said were different from the evidence being presented in the Senate, sitting as an impeachment court.

“It muddies the water about what is in fact the evidence being presented in court. I don’t know what is the purpose because the senator-judges are very, very focused in what is going on during the trial and we’re very, very conscientious about dispensing what goes on in the media,” he said.

Aquino’s continued public pronouncements, Marcos said, have also put the senators, sitting as judges in the trial in a “very difficult position.”

“Because as much as we’d like to explain all of the things were doing, we don’t have the opportunity to explain every move we make,” he further said.

Marcos then called on the President to fulfil his promise that he would be impartial and would keep his hands off the Corona trial.

“I remember he (Aquino) made a promise very early on that he would be impartial and hands off in the impeachment process. Baka balikan na lang n’ya ‘yong policy na ‘yon (I think he needs to review that policy) and that would be much better I think for everyone concerned,” the senator added.
