MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area or LPA west-northwest of Puerto Princesa City is expected to bring rain over Kalayaan Islands on Wednesday, according to the latest forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The rest of the country, however, will continue to experience hot and humid weather conditions, it added.

“Sa Kalayaan Islands, asahan pa rin ang mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan dulot ng LPA,” said Pagasa weather specialist Samuel Duran.

(In the Kalayaan Islands, expect that scattered rain will persist due to the LPA.)

According to the state weather service, the LPA was last spotted 235 kilometers west-northwest of Puerto Princesa City or 295 km east of Pagasa Island.

Duran said the LPA is anticipated to leave the country’s area of responsibility within the next 24 hours.

“Samantalang ang nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon ay makakaranas pa rin ng maalinsangang panahon na may mga tiyansa ng thunderstorms pagdating ng hapon at gabi,” said Duran.

(Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will still experience warm weather with chances of thunderstorms by the afternoon and evening.)

The same hot and humid situation could be seen in the regions of Mindanao and Visayas, Pagasa said, although isolated thunderstorms could also occur in these areas around Wednesday afternoon and evening due to the effects of the easterlies.

Pagasa likewise issued the following temperature range in key cities/areas nationwide for Wednesday:

No gale warning was raised on all seaboards of the country, according to Pagasa’s bulletin released at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
