MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Tuesday said that no COVID-19 infection had been reported in any of its facilities since January 31.
“Since Jan 31, 2022, BuCor had registered zero COVID-19 cases for both PDL (persons deprived of liberty) and staff until the present,” BuCor Deputy Director-General Gabriel Chaclag said in a text message to INQUIRER.net.
A total of 688 PDLs and 599 BuCor personnel have contracted the coronavirus since the pandemic started in 2020. The numbers included the death of 33 PDLs and eight BuCor personnel.
As of March 28, the country recorded 3,667,476 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 3,576,500 recoveries, and 59,030 fatalities while active infections stood at 41,846.
