MANILA, Philippines — A special COVID-19 vaccination program will be held in the Davao region and Cotabato City from March 29 to 31, the chairperson of the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) announced on Saturday.

On Friday, the Department of Health announced that the government will hold special vaccination days in Cebu from March 29 to 31 and in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) from March 30 to April 1.

“Magkakaroon po tayong special vaccination days sa Region 11, Cebu province and Cotabato City ng March 29 to 31 at sa buong BARMM ng March 30 hanggang April 1 para tumaas ang coverage,” NVOC chair and Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said at the Laging Handa public briefing.

(We will hold special vaccination days in Region 11, Cebu province, and Cotabato City from March 29 to 31 and in the entire BARMM from March 30 until April 1 to increase their vaccine coverage.)

“Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang pagtutok natin lalong-lalo na sa mga probinsya, siyudad at munisipyo na pwede nang made-escalate sa Alert Level 1 kapag nakamit na nila yung 70 percent fully vaccinated and ‘yung kinauukulang percentage ng senior citizens [vaccinated],” she added.

(We are continuously monitoring provinces, cities, and municipalities that can deescalate into Alert Level 1 once they fully vaccinate 70 percent of their population and reach the required vaccination coverage for senior citizens.)

Earlier this month, Cabotaje said the government may no longer conduct COVID-19 National Vaccination Days, also known as the nationwide “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” drive, and will just focus on areas with low vaccine coverage.
