Rain expected in Southern Mindanao; hot, humid in other parts of PH

weather update

MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Caraga, Soccsksargen and Davao regionsin Mindanao on Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa, in an early morning forecast, said the ITCZ or the convergence of winds coming from the northern and southern hemisphere, will affect the weather in Southern Mindanao.

The state weather bureau warned of possible flash floods or landslides in rain-affected areas.

Meanwhile, the easterlies or warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean will bring hot and humid weather, with possible isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the rest of the country.

“For the next three days ay wala pa naman tayong nakikitang namumuong LPA (low pressure area) na posibleng magdevelop into a tropical depression, kaya’t mostly parts of the country makakaranas ng warm and humid conditions, isolated rain showers lamang kung uulan man,” Pagasa weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin also said in a forecast.

(For the next three days, no LPA that could turn into a tropical depression is expected. That’s why most parts of the country will experience warm and humid conditions, and possible isolated rain showers.)
